What Does It Mean to be a Cigna Dentist?
A Cigna dentist has contractually agreed to provide certain dental services at a reduced price for you. As an in-network provider, your Cigna dentist will not ask you to cover the full cost of a treatment out of pocket. Instead, you will simply pay the amount you owe at the time you receive treatment -- and if you are visiting us for a treatment that is completely covered (more on that below), no money changes hands at all. We will file the claim and receive the full payment from Cigna later.
What Services are Covered By Insurance?
Most dental insurance coverage works on a 100-80-50 scale.
- 100% covered: Preventive services like checkups and cleanings twice a year and a set of x-rays annually. Children may be eligible for topical fluoride treatments and dental sealants as well.
- 80% covered: Basic restorative care like tooth-colored fillings, extractions, and root canal therapy.
- 50% covered: More complex restorations, like dental crowns and bridges.
